Manuka honey may be the  good food for pregnant women. In addition to its delicious taste, may provide excellent health benefits for women both during pregnancy and postpartum. Whether it's adding sweetness to your coffee or tea, relaxing your mind with a honey-milk drink, or healing and moisturizing your skin.

Not recommended to give honey to babies under 12 months old, consuming honey during pregnancy differs from giving your baby honey after their birth. Adult stomachs are fully developed, and are better equipped to limit colonization of a bacteria in honey that sometimes makes babies sick with a rare illness called Botulism.

Please keep in mind that here at Bees & Trees Manuka Honey, we do not claim to be medical professionals and recommend that you consult with your doctor, health care provider or holistic practitioner when making any dietary decisions during pregnancy and postpartum.

MGO stands for Methylglyoxal which is the organic compound responsible for Manuka honey’s strong antibacterial properties. Methylglyoxal works with other components to produce Manuka’s unique health benefits.

The MGO rating that you will find on labels shows the amount of methylglyoxal in the honey. For example, there is at least 100mg of methylglyoxal per kilogram in Manuka honey with an MGO 100+ rating.

NPA stands for non-peroxide activity, the property that makes certain grades of UMF and MGO manuka honey special. Those manuka honeys that carry only a ‘total activity’ or ‘peroxide activity’ rating do not have this special NPA property and should be considered low-grade honey.

UMF - Uniquew Manuka Factor ratings are based on specific natural markers characteristic of manuka honey, such as leptosperin and methylglyoxal. UMF ratings correspond to the potency of the desirable non peroxide properties of honey. .

MGO is methylglyoxal referred as MGO.

The most common references to real and pure honey are organic and natural honey. As you would expect, real honey should not come from a factory but from bees. Pure honey is a natural product made by honey bees. Organic honey is made by the bees that were fed only with organically grown flowers. You will need tests to distinguish between the real and fake honey.

Also referred to as impure, artificial or adulterated, fake honey is ‘honey’  that has been added glucose, dextrose, molasses, sugar syrup, invert sugar, flour, corn syrup, starch, or any other similar product, other than floral nectar.

The purity of honey can be checked in the labs whether it is pure or not. But, as we are looking for a simple way by which an average day to day consumer can quickly tell if it is fake or pure/real honey. The first and probably the most obvious step, for anyone who is concerned, is to check the label. The label contains some information that might be helpful. Below are some of the main differences in properties that will help you distinguish between the real and fake honey.

There are 12 different ways to Identify 100% Real (Pure) and Fake Honey? Refer out article for details.

There is no any specific answer to this. Life of the honey depens on its storage conditions. If stores correctly it last indefinitely. The best before or expiry date on a honey package is a legal requirement of Australian consumer law.

Honey contains two main types of natural sugars, fructose and glucose. While fructose tends to remain dissolved, glucose has a much lower solubility and so can crystalize much more easily.

Tiny crystals form in the honey when the glucose separates from the water. The crystallization will even be different in different kinds of honey depending on the nectar it was made from. Some form tiny, very fine crystals evenly dispersed through the honey. Others have larger gritty crystals. It totally depends on the water content of the honey compared the glucose, the more glucose, the quicker it will crystallise.

To decrystalize honey, put the honey jar in warm water not more thatn 40 Degress. Heating honey more than 40 degrees results on loss of its properties.
